BULGARTRANSGAZ EAD PROVIDED ROUTES FOR NATURAL GAS SUPPLY IN CONNECTION WITH EXECUTION OF SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE AND PREVENTIVE WORKS AT RECEIVING TERMINAL KIYIKOY AT ENTRY TO THE REPUBLIC OF TURKEY

Regarding the execution of scheduled maintenance and preventive works at Receiving terminal Kiyikoy at entry to the Republic of Turkey in the period 23.06.2020 - 28.06.2020, natural gas supply through IP Strandzha 2/Malkoclar has been suspended. The interruption is carried out according to the annual repair programmes of the neighbouring gas transmission operators.

In recent years, Bulgartransgaz EAD has been working purposefully to diversify the sources and routes of natural gas supply to Bulgaria. As a result of these efforts, the capacity at IP Kulata/Sidirokastron (Greece) increased up to 6.1 mcm/day, as well as at IP Ruse/Giurgiu (Romania) up to 2.5 mcm/day. In addition to the opportunities for diversification through supply from alternative sources, the capacity increase of the existing interconnection points with Greece and Romania ensures security of supply for the consumers in Bulgaria and the region.

For the period of maintenance of the receiving terminal in Turkey, Bulgartransgaz EAD has provided the necessary capacity for natural gas supplies to the Republic of Bulgaria through the reverse connections of the Bulgarian gas transmission system with Greece (Kulata/Sidirokastron) and Romania (Kardam/Negru Voda 1 and Ruse/Giurgiu). That includes also the quantities planned for injection in Chiren underground gas storage.

The overall policy of the company for diversification by increasing the existing capacities and building new infrastructure guarantees continuous natural gas supplies, both during such scheduled works and in the event of emergencies.

Table 1 presents the natural gas quantities planned for physical delivery for the needs of the Republic of Bulgaria, along the respective routes and entry points to Bulgartransgaz EAD gas transmission system for 23.06.2020:

In case of change in natural gas consumption in the Republic of Bulgaria, the users of Bulgartransgaz EAD gas transmission network shall be provided with capacity for transmission of additional quantities at these interconnection points and possibility to submit re-nominations every hour.
